Qualification Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who are engaged to apply knowledge and practical skills to manage the work of others or to add value to or review management practices. You will learn to plan, organise, implement and monitor your workload and the workload of others.  Their role may be in any industry or organisational setting.

You develop skills to plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources and communicate to stakeholder

Job roles and titles vary across different industry sectors. A possible job title relevant to this qualification include Senior Manager, Office Manager, Operations Manager, Warehouse Manager, Business Development Manager, Production Manager and Business Manager.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no prerequisites, however it is preferred that students:

  • Are 18 years or older
  • Have sound language and literacy skills (at least Year 10 English, or equivalent)
  • Have basic computer skills
  • Must undertake Language, Literacy and Numeracy test (LLN) :
  • Oral communication -a learner will be able to use and respond to spoken language including some unfamiliar material within a variety of contexts.
  • Numeracy and mathematics – a learner will be able to recognise and use a variety of conventions and symbolism of formal mathematics
  • This course is not offered to international students

Pre-training Review

All student must undertake pre-training review prior to the enrolment which aims to identify their training needs through questions on previous education or training, relevance of the courses to student, basic computing skills and interview conducted by Global International College enrolment officer. Interview also aims to identify possible CT/RPL opportunities, confirm oral communication skills. Through pre-training review, student will demonstrate that they have necessary skills to successfully complete the course.

Course Structure

The students enrolled in this course are required to complete 12 units of competency to attain a qualification which includes 6 core and 6 elective units.

Assessment Methods:

A range of assessment methods will be used to assess required skills and knowledge for each unit of competency. These may include but not limited to may be case studies, written or verbal questioning, projects, role plays, observations and class activities. Students will be notified in advance of the time and form of an assessment. As this is a competency based training, outcome of the student assessment will be deemed Competent (C ) or Not Yet Competent (NYC).

Delivery Approach

The course is delivered face to face in a training room and in a simulated workplace environment and will include training presentations, tutorials, demonstrations and practice tasks and activities. Students will be provided with a class timetable at the time of an enrolment

Student are also required to undertake a self-pace study to enhance learning from the units. The extent of self-paced learning is determined by each individual student and is communicated through the trainer.

Potential employment options are in leadership and management roles in a range of industry areas.

Students who complete this course may wish to continue their education into the BSB61015 Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management or a range of Advanced Diploma qualifications, as well as higher education qualifications in business or management.

Is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) available?

Global International College has a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Policy, to ensure that an individual’s prior learning, achieved through formal and informal training, work experience or other life experiences, is appropriately recognised. This recognition may assist students to progress faster through a unit of competency, or allow the student full credit.
